When I see on my calendar "quadruplet three year olds" I think to myself, "......well this could be interesting....!" Let me tell you about this awesome family I got to meet πŸ’š Mom and Dad are patient and kind as all get out, easy going and had one goal which was to have all six of them in a photo and 'they all don't even have to be looking'. Left in the top right photo is Tucker, notice the cars in his hands... he scouted them out in the studio the minute he walked in! He was the toughest to get to smile because all he wanted to do was play with the cars but he couldn't resist my "Hot Dog Song"! Next in that photo is Grace. She's a dancer. She wanted to see the photos on the back of my camera and thought my "Baby Shark" was pretty spot on. Then there's Caroline, a little more reserved but still a little silly. She liked it best when she was sitting on the bench with her sissy and she liked my fake sneeze trick. And then there's Cole. He's the leader of the group from what I can tell and the class clown. The silliest of all with zero percent shyness. He was sneak attack tickling me every chance he got, sitting on my lap while I photographed his siblings and he was a pro at posing from the word go. I'd say this is pretty good for their first professional family photo considering no photoshopping was needed. To mom and dad, I'm so happy I could be the first one to give you a photo that you will look at forever with feelings of happiness that will only grow stronger as the days go by. Life is crazy... but it's so much more beautiful than crazy. These are the days. So happy I got to meet these guys. They brought me more joy than I can even describe in words πŸ’•

I *WISH* you could all know these little girls. Sweetness is the closest word I can think of to describe them but it seems completely insufficient. Kaycee is turning SIX and Camryn is THREE πŸ’• Soooo much history between this family and I. Kaycee was just a little peanut in my basement at my house when we first met and since then, I've captured her birthday photos every year, mom and dad's engagement, wedding day, family photos, the addition of baby sister and then Cam's yearly photos, too. This right here is why I love what I do. It's families like this that allow me to say that I have the best job in the world. Love you guys ❀️

Gorgeous baby Vera πŸ’— Not sure how almost a year has passed since her newborn session but man did we have fun. She is also super smart. Lehigh Valley Photographer | LG Photography | Put your stupid phone away!

My goal at every wedding is to be inconspicuous. I can’t be inconspicuous when I am battling elbows holding cell phones during the processional and recessional at a ceremony.

One of my favorite photos at every wedding is the bride coming down the aisle. I love it so much because she’s usually glowing. She’s being walked down by someone who she loves wholeheartedly and who undoubtedly loves her back and they’re walking towards the person she’s about to spend the rest of her life with. If you’re fortunate enough to get to be there as a guest to see that moment in person, I promise you that your cell phone version of it is going to be way lackluster compared to the live version you’ll have in your mind if you were being present and watching it with your own to eyes versus through a 4 inch screen.

Being a photographer is hardest for me during a ceremony. Particularly outdoor. Many times the light is changing because the bride is walking from a long distance. She may go from the shade of an overhang on the building to Bright sun and then down the aisle where it’s open shade with some sunlight leaks peeking through the trees on her as she proceeds. I can be all set for the light and it looks amazing and then a cloud moves in front of the sun and I have to change literally every setting on my camera to accommodate that cloud only to have it move away 20 seconds later and scramble my way back to my sunny settings. All the while, photographing a moving person in a once in a lifetime moment that can’t ever be recreated. I know what you might be thinking, β€œstop complaining, that’s you’re job!” I agree. And I’m not complaining. I am a professional and handling those tough lighting situations are why I can call myself that. But I can only be at one place at a time and I can’t anticipate a cell phone going out in the aisle or someone a few rows away from me stepping in front of me to get a better angle of the bride coming towards us. I don’t have time to react to that when I am shooting that moment.

I am just a bystander. A person who typically has no real tie to the couple other than being hired to capture the day. As a guest, you’re given the best gift ever, which is being able to witness a once in a lifetime moment where two people begin their life as one. Be present. Be fully present. Put your phone away and watch. And listen. And smile. And react. And be reminded of why YOU fell in love. Hold hands with your plus one and squeeze it when you feel moved.

Wedding ceremonies are the most beautiful and sacred part of the day. The photographer is there so you can be fully present. Bring your phone out for pics during cocktail hour. Reception. Whatever.  But if the couple hired a professional to capture their day, they’re going to be bummed when their photos include a bunch of phone screens.

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Capriotti's Palazza & Catering Wedding | McAdoo, PA | 5.19.18 | Courtney & Justin

Typically, when I have my final phone consult with my brides, I don't mention the weather because truthfully... I don't ever look at the weather. But everyone I spoke to the week before their wedding in passing said, "Going to be a wash out this weekend!" or "Hope you don't have a wedding this weekend!" and so I knew going into our phone call that weather would have to be a discussion. I assured them that no matter what, we would find a place to do photos and make beautiful portraits for them.

Fast forward to Saturday, the rain was relentless. I remember watching the girls being ushered into the house taking cover from the rain and I told Courtney that I had a back up inside plan if needed!

She looked stunning! Another bride who I've known through a club my husband is a part of in Hazleton, PA. We've been to Yankees games together and I've watched her go from a middle schooler to graduating with her doctorate. I met Justin through their family and they've been together for as long as I remember. They are the perfect compliment to each other.

As we left for the ceremony, the rain was pouring down and throughout the entire ceremony it continued. My second shooter Becky came over to me as we were setting up for the family formals in the church and she said, "You're not going to believe this but it stopped raining!" I told her not to toy with my emotions and went to look for myself and sure enough it had stopped raining. We were blessed that the outside of the church was gorgeous and we had a perfect ivy backdrop for photos. I cried happy tears when we left for the reception. When I say I'm 100% present on a wedding day, I'm all in. Emotionally involved from the word GO! No matter what the weather, I do what I can to make gorgeous photos... but what I don't always let on about rainy weddings is that they're SUPER stressful. Because I have a lot of people (bridal party, parents, MYSELF) that I'm trying to remind to stay positive so that there's no extra stress on the B&G. I love how in the photos you can't see stress. You see two people so much in love and surrounded by people who love them so much. The break in the rain was a gift from above and obviously I'm STILL super grateful for it.

The rest of the night went off perfectly. I got to hang out with DJ Adam from Skuba Entertainment who I love to work with. If you ever wonder if the uplighting package your DJ offers is worth it, be sure to check out their fun dancing shots! I also got to see my former bride, Cortney from Capriotti's Catering where the food is always delicious and the service never disappoints!

Justin and Courtney, I am so thrilled you two have found love and bring out the very best in each other! Thank you for including me on your day. I can't wait 'til you see all the photos! Xo Lg

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Woodstone Country Club Wedding | Danielsville, PA | 5.12.18 | Courtney & Dan

So Courtney and I have known each other a long time, since she's besties with my little sister. We've been to the beach together more than once and she has always been such a pleasant and positive influence around my kids.

When she and Dan got engaged and she asked me to photograph their wedding, I was thrilled! Not only because it was her and I was so happy I could be there to see her be married, it was at Woodstone Country Club which I LOVE to work at!

Dan and Court are the cutest!!! They love each other so much and although Dan was somewhat quiet through the engagement session and other meetings we've been together, I saw him relaxed and having a blast with his bride.

Just as we finished up portraits on the golf course, the sky opened up just before we made it back to the lodge on our golf carts and it poured. It was a blessing from above that I got to finish up all the photos before the sky opened up!!

As always, the food at Woodstone was awesome and DJ Freddie kept the party hoppin' all night! The bridal party was so fun and even "Iced" the one groomsman during intros... by the way, I realized I was old when last year my bride told me her groom was going to be "Iced" and I had absolutely no idea what that meant and the bridal party had to tell me.

Courtney and Dan, I wish every happiness this life has to offer and I look forward to seeing what the future brings for you.  xoLG

Lehigh Valley Photographer | LG Photography | Coplay, PA | So You Want To Be A Photographer?

I get asked a few times a month about business "stuff" so I figured I would make a blog to reference it once and for all so I won't ever miss anything and can add on as I think of more things to add...

So you want to be a photographer? Awesome. I can say, it's pretty much the coolest job ever. For me personally, I get to snuggle A LOT of babies, help brides and grooms get through their big days, watch kids grow up right before my eyes and I've made many friendships through clients over the years. It's seriously the coolest job and most days I still shake my head in disbelief about how it all got started and where I'm at today.

First things first though... you NEED insurance and a proper tax ID. I am an LLC. For me, it protects me the way I need to be protected if something were to happen. Sole proprietor is another option but from what I understand, most photogs are LLC. This is a non-negotiable. There are many resources online to help you set this up in your state, even I did it alone back in the day. Insurance is super important. Many wedding venues ask for proof of insurance before I can shoot there. I work with Megan Harper from Allstate, mention me if you  talk to her. I was using another company for YEARS and paying a lot more and then someone smashed a brick through my studio window and it wasn't covered. Call my girl Megan, she'll take great care of you.

A lot of people ask me, "Did you go to school for photography or are you self taught?". The answer is "I'm somewhere in the middle." I started shooting when my kids were babies and I posted this photo online and a few people asked me to take their Christmas card photos.

littlegirlandlittleboystandingoutsideingrassbyfencelgphotographylorigenerose.jpg

It all snowballed from there. I ended up taking some classes to learn how to shoot manually with my camera at Dan's Camera City in Allentown and they hooked me up with Creative Photo Workshops from Australia who occasionally come to the US. Glynn Lavender was and still is my mentor. He not only taught me how to shoot manual, he's been one of my biggest cheerleaders from across the world and we talk a few times a year about my business. Find yourself a Glynn. Someone you can learn from, who you trust and respect. Take some classes. Workshops galore. I've taken workshops with Rachel Vanoven in Indianapolis, Brigette Schaffarzick in Seattle and Meg Bitton in New York City. The cost of any of those workshops, especially including the very first one with Glynn at Dan's Camera City, have paid for themselves in a few sessions and 1,000 times over. You can't be afraid to spend money on learning. That wedding class at Dan's was $500 and I specifically remember standing at the counter saying to myself, "I can't afford this" and being deflated when I went home to talk to my husband about it, he said, "If you learn ONE THING that can help you be a better photographer, won't it be worth that $500?". So I went back and I put the class on a credit card and I hoped for the best. That money I didn't have in 2011 was HANDS DOWN, THE BEST $500 I have ever spent. I am not a good teacher so I'm not a great person to ask to mentor, but there are many people who are great photographers and teachers. Don't be afraid to ask the question.

If you want to be a photographer, you must be okay with:

-Working LONG and HARD hours. I am pretty disciplined in my editing. Under promise, Over deliver. Editing for me is the "work" in my work. I hate it. It's part of the job.

- People's reply to you saying you're a photographer, "Oh my (fill in the blank) sister's husband's cousin's dad's brother's nephew's mechanic's uncle is a photographer, too!" Just like when you get a new car, you see that car everywhere when you can't specifically remember ever seeing it before, everyone is a photographer or knows someone who is.

-Missing stuff. My kids are very active. Dance, baseball, horse back riding, softball, basketball. I miss A LOT of stuff. It's the toughest part of my job. Finding a balance is key.

Must Do List

-Invest in lenses, not cameras. I started with a Sony SLR. Invested in lenses and then switched to canon. I had a Canon 7d, Canon 6d and now I shoot with Canon 5d Mark IV. I always refer people to Dan's for which cameras to buy to start. They are the best and know a lot more than I do but I'd say any entry level SLR will be sufficient. Especially since nowadays, their low light capabilities and megapixels are pretty awesome. As far as lenses, they depend on what you're shooting. My favorite portrait lens is 70-200mm and it's on my camera 90% of the time. I love my 35mm and my 50mm. But a great lens that is very versatile is 24-70mm.

- BACK UP EVERYTHING. From photos to your gear. I have all my photos backed up on my hosting site Shootproof and I have back up gear in my camera bag because I can promise you something will break.

-Work with what you have until you can comfortably afford more. Not credit card comfort, cash comfort. I worked out of my basement studio until I literally outgrew it. Make do with what you have because if you try to go too big too quick, you'll find yourself with a closed up shop. I've seen it happen too often. Or share a space with a friend. Lots of options if you think you need a studio.

- Join facebook groups to get your photos critiqued. Some are very mild and some are harsh. The only way to learn is to ask.

- Learn to shoot manual before you call yourself a professional. A professional anything means you get paid to do it. Take on free jobs until you learn more and feel comfortable charging someone.

... BUT DON'T let anyone ever tell you to stop or that you're not good enough. I had a girl message me anonymously saying that I didn't deserve to be a photographer and that my photos looked like I photoshopped everything and that I should be ashamed of myself because of me, she wasn't able to pay her bills. This was 2012. My cousin, a little computer genius, reverse searched who she was and it turns out she was jealous because my boss at the time of a restaurant she frequented, asked me to take some pictures that ended up on a billboard. There's always going to be haters and it's easy to say "don't let them get to you" but I promise they're not worth even ONE SECOND of tears. Imagine if I had taken that girl's words to heart. That same year is when I quit my serving job and went full time. God has provided for me every step of the way.

Be real. Be you. Don't compare yourself to others. Be confident and don't let anyone walk all over you. When you don't know, ask. Never say "I'll fix that later in photoshop." Get it right in the camera. Stay organized. Never stop learning. Have fun and always remember that someone chose YOU to capture their loved ones, never take that for granted. Do your best and everything that's meant to be will be.

Blessings,

Lori

Lehigh Valley Photographer | The Inn At Pocono Manor Resort & Spa Wedding | Pocono Manor, PA | 5.5.18 | Chelsea & John

I had such a great time with John and Chelsea for their big day. I had never been to the Inn at Pocono Manor before and let me tell you, their wedding did not disappoint. It's no secret that weddings with bands are my absolute favorite!!! No disrespect to my DJ buddies, but when there is a band at a wedding it already moves up on my list as an awesome day. Every wedding I've ever shot that had had a band, the people are there to party and have a good time!!! John and Chelsea did their first look and got all of their photos done prior to the ceremony which was held at one of my favorite churches in Easton, College Hill Presbyterian. We made a pitstop in downtown Easton to do some bridal party photos at the Bank Street Alley, which is also another favorite spot of mine. It was a gorgeous wedding day with really fun people and a couple very much in love. I am so grateful that I met these two and I'm so excited to see what the future holds for them. To show how romantic they are... they had actually planned a getaway to the Inn at Pocono Manor just by chance and John had proposed the night before they left for their getaway. When they got there (excited and giggly about being engaged), John saw a wedding brochure for the Manor and said β€œHey, we could get married here!”. Chelsea just laughed initially and then later when they were researching venues they came back to the Manor and really loved it... low and behold.... that's where we were celebrating! John and Chelsea, I am so grateful I was able to be there with you on your big day. Thanks for choosing me. Blessings. Lori

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Jacobsburg State Park Engagement Session | Nazareth, PA | Tonya & Eric

Eric and Tonya were so fun together for their engagement photo shoot at Jacobsburg State Park in Nazareth, PA. When I initially met with Tonya to book the wedding, Eric was working, so it was my first time meeting him and what a pleasure to see them together. They are so natural with each other and so seriously in love it's kind of ridiculous. I loved that they weren't afraid to get in the water and get wet and be super silly with each other when the time was right! I'm very much looking forward to their wedding next year at Hanover Grand Ballroom. Xo Lg

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Northampton Community Center Wedding | Northampton, PA | 4.21.18 | Courtney & Joey

April 21st was a gorgeous day for a wedding. The trees hadn't bloomed much yet, but the weather was gorgeous and the company was awesome. Love was in the air. Courtney and I have known each other forever since our days of junior bowling leagues. She's always been a kind spirit with a great personality. She and Joey have a special love that's totally "them" and it's really beautiful to see. They love their little guy with all they've got and they are amazing parents.

The ceremony was at Holy Family Church in Nazareth. It was my first time at the church and it was stunning with floor to Ceiling stained glass. We went to the Indian Tower for photos after the ceremony and then also to the Kreidersville Covered Bridge. I always love shooting receptions at the Northampton Community Center because they have amazing meals that never disappoint and the staff is the most accommodating. Overall, it was a perfect day. I want to wish Joey and Courtney a lifetime of happiness! I am honored that I was there to witness day one. Blessings. Xo Lg

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Historic Hotel Bethlehem Wedding | Bethlehem, PA | 4.14.18 | Lauren & Joel

On February 3, 2018, I was kickboxing on a Saturday morning and as I was doing double roundhouse kicks to a freestanding bag, my knee bent in when I landed and I saw stars as my mind went black. As soon as the initial screaming pain went away and I started to make my way out of the karate dojo… my mind immediately went to April 14, 2018 where I knew I had to be ready to photograph my first wedding of the year. At the point of when I hurt myself, I did not know I had torn my ACL, but two days later I found out that I had. I got an MRI that same day on Monday and I got scheduled with my surgeon to have a consultation, where he told me they like to wait at least one month to do the surgery. The reason for that is so that I can do four weeks of pre-physical therapy to get ready for the surgery. When he told me that, my heart sank and I knew that would not work for me. I said to my doctor, "What do I need to be able to do before surgery?" and he replied that my knee needs to have full range of motion before he will operate on me. So we set the surgery date for February 22 and I told him that I promise nobody will work harder to get ready for February 22 than I will. On February 20, I went for my pre-surgery consultation with my surgeon and he was very impressed with my progress. I spent at least 2 to 3 hours every day at the gym getting my muscles as strong as I could before surgery. On February 22, my surgery went well and I immediately started physical therapy again the next day.  I basically went every single day except for Sundays for six weeks. My therapist was very impressed with my determination and I told him that all I needed to do was be ready for April 14. Literally every single moment of the last seven weeks was gearing up for this wedding because I knew I had to be on my feet for 12 hours and as I've mentioned before in my blogs, there's no "kind of being present". You have to be 100% "ON" on the wedding day and I didn't want my knee to have my mind in another place. The day of the wedding I was seven weeks and two days past surgery and I was pretty freaking proud that my knee held up the whole day without any trouble. I did take a break during dinner to ice it for 30 minutes, which I think helped as well! OK enough backstory- let me tell you about the amazing wedding day!

So Joel and Lauren found me through Lauren's brother and sister-in-law's wedding, Matt and Meredith, I shot last fall at Bear Creek. We did their engagement shoot and I immediately fell love with them. I could tell they were so sweet together and so in love! I also always feel like I have a major emotional connection with the first bride and groom of the year, because the build up is so big to get to that moment and then with this year and everything that went on, I feel like that was multiplied by 100. But the excitement and anticipation didn't disappoint and the wedding was amazing.

The weather was unseasonably warm, we've had rain both before and rain after the wedding with freezing cold temperatures and in the 30s but on their wedding day it was almost 80Β° with a beautiful spring breeze that felt beautiful. When I got there in the morning, the guys were having a good time in the room down the hall at the Hotel Bethlehem and the girls were in the bridal suite finishing up hair and makeup. Lauren looked gorgeous, as did all the girls, and the color of the dresses were dusty pink, which is my favorite color right now, so they all looked gorgeous. I drove on the limo with the girls, as my second shooter met me at the ceremony. Their puppies surprised everyone by arriving at the ceremony after the service! After church, we headed back to the Hotel Bethlehem to do photos in the colonial district down below the hotel and oh my goodness it was incredible. The light, the people... everything was perfect!

We took them outside for some fun night shots and let them take a breather. Then they came in and danced the night away! It literally could not have been a more perfect day. At the end of the night, Joel and Lauren came up to us and told us how much it meant for them that we were there. Lauren was in tears as she hugged me and said she could not have gotten through the day without me. That hug and those words combined with the emotion I felt, made every single moment of the last two months worth it!

As a small business owner, we don't get sick days. When we do, it affects a lot of people. I knew there was no way I wouldn't be shooting that wedding, so whatever that meant for me to work as hard as I could to get there, that was what it was. I am so glad and so honored that I was with you guys to capture your day. I hope you'll always look at these photos and remember how happy that day was for you.

Joel and Lauren, I hope God will continue to bless your lives and if you decide to have little babies, remember I'm a newborn photographer as well! Xo Lg

Lehigh Valley Photographer | Filbert Bed & Breakfast Wedding | Danielsville, PA | 9.29.17 | Tara & Paul

Tara and Paul and I did not officially meet until their wedding day. We FaceTime’d for their bridal consultation and as soon as we hung up they emailed me to let us know they wanted me to shoot their wedding! The entire wedding and reception was at the very beautiful Filbert Bed and Breakfast in Danielsville, PA. I knew immediately upon meeting both of them that the day would be special. It was a small quaint ceremony and it was centered around God and how blessed they felt to have each other. Their puppy, Cooper, was a main part of the day and he was such a good boy, even dancing on the dance floor late into the evening. I felt so blessed as well to be there to capture their day and celebrate with them. The Filbert holds special meaning to me because it is where I got ready for my wedding and the owner is a good friend of my family and truly one of the nicest people on the planet, not to mention one heck of a cook!

Paul and Tara, I have no doubt in my mind you will be celebrating your love forever. I wish you nothing but my greatest wishes for happiness always! Thanks for choosing me!!! Xo Lg

Lehigh Valley Photographer | LG Photography | 1.21.18 | Friends of Phoebe | Phoebe's "No More Chemo" Party | Friends of Phoebe

I met Miss Phoebe two years ago in November when we invited her to come see Santa! She was in her second month of treatment and I remember her being very shy and seemingly weak. She had a hard time walking and needed assistance to even walk up to Santa. Since then, I’ve watched her Facebook page, Friends of Phoebe, and I’ve seen that sweet little girl turn into a spunky, full of life, silly, amazingly crazy and HAPPY girl with a full head of thick brown hair! Also, she loves unicorns, rainbows, cooking and Paris!!! She’s awesome!!!

She went through 836 days of treatment to ring the bell that she’s cancer free finally on December 29th.

I wanted to photograph her "No More Chemo" party when her mama messaged me about it because I knew it would be an incredible day and it should be captured!!

She was surrounded by so many loved ones, new friends and old, nurses and people they’ve met along their journey! Phoebe’s mom made a beautifully emotional speech that had everyone in tears! She even had appearances by special guests Merida and Harley Quinn!

Phoebe, you are one special young lady. I’m so glad I was there with you today to celebrate! Thank you for having me!!! Xo LG

Lehigh Valley Photographer | LG Photography | Jolly Good News

Good morning, everyone. What a crazy summer it's been! I have spent every moment I could with my kiddos and family, taking it one day at a time and loving every second. We still have a little over a week until school starts and after that I'll be back at the studio pretty regularly.

So in BIG news, the news I mentioned I couldn't wait to share! As you may or may not know, I have an amazing behind the scenes assistant/bestie/do-it-all-er named Tanya. She has been on my team for three years this September. She has given so much of herself to my business and to me personally just by being her. She is the type A to my, ahem, not so type A personality. She keeps me focused and on task and she juggles a family, a side business, being a wife and a mom and up until last month, being a preschool teacher in addition to her assisting me. After much prayer and discussion, I am happy to announce Tanya is starting FULL TIME with LG next week!!!! We are still looking for the perfect job description for her but nothing seems to do it justice. She's so much more than an assistant and will be taking over even more than before freeing up time for me to focus on the things I do best! I'll still be shooting and editing and answering particular email questions as always. The difference you might notice with this change is our response time. Tanya is working daytime hours only and will not be answering emails during her evenings or weekends off. We've worked out a system that she'll be checking email throughout the day and first thing in the morning to reply to anything that came in overnight. If you would like to contact us regarding your scheduled session, please try to contact at least 24 hours prior to give her the time to respond. We ask that you send an email or message to our Facebook page rather than text her (unless she texts you first regarding a session or question), as that will help keep all our messages together and answered during her work hours. We ask for your patience and understanding as we transition into this much anticipated change!

I promised a mid-month newsletter this time also to talk about Santa stuff! I know it's crazy to be thinking of Santa time in August but if you know how crazy it gets around that time of year, you understand why I'm doing this now! As you may or may not know, Santa is my uncle! (I know, I know! #BESTUncleEver) Anyway, he is a pastor at a church in Middleburg, PA. He has quite a trip to get to us every weekend and he can't do Sundays so we are at the mercy of Fridays and Saturdays with the occasional Thursday. Santa had an episode that scared us all like crazy this summer. They thought it was a stroke, it has a fancy name but thankfully I can say, by the grace of God, he's come out of it completely unscathed. I just spoke with him and he said he "CAN'T WAIT" to see all the kiddos and he's ready for whatever I'm cooking up over here! So I'm waiting to hear back from him about one thing I'm kinda geeking out about that will be super fun if we can pull it off. But, counting up the sessions we have to offer this year, we are cutting back some. I don't want to put so much on the busiest man in the world and if you've ever had a kicker or a screamer on Santa's lap, you know what kind of physical toll that kind of action takes on him. He won't EVER complain but it is physically and emotionally taxing and his well-being is my number ONE priority.

Last year, after craziness with booking ensued I promised I'd find a better way to do it. Let me explain.

For those who are new to this, I hear it's similar to trying to get the best Black Friday deal you can imagine and your anxiety and excitement over it are through the roof. To get an idea, we cut off allowing entries to come through after 2 minutes last year and we already had 500 names on the list. We had "sold" as many spots as we had available within 35 seconds. If you can imagine, on my end... I was thrilled! It was seamless, easy and unflawed and for the first time in years we didn't have any glitches. What we didn't expect was the backlash. If you're unfamiliar with a google form, every entry gives a time stamp to the name on the backside that we see. Everyone was flabbergasted when they said they were on right at 8pm and hit submit within seconds and they didn't make it in time. "How is that possible?" "You cherry picked who you wanted to have a spot!" "There's got to be a more fair way!" "I took off of work for this and I didn't get a spot... You just lost a customer for life!" "You should remember the people who got you started in your business, you should be ashamed of yourself for how you handled this!" Yeah.. that was the negativity I got for the one thing I thought was flawless and well thought out. Of course those who got a spot were thrilled and thought it was completely fair. Most of those who didn't were understandably upset but not angry enough to message me hatefully. Which brings me back to how are we going to book this year? The answer is, I don't know and I still have some time to decide.  I know no matter what I decide, some will love it, some will hate it and some won't care either way. I have to do what's best for myself (my health and sanity) and my family and I've been thinking about this for 9 months and I still don't have an answer. Please know, I am a people pleaser and I take every word of encouragement and criticism to heart. I wish I didn't have to think about doing a different way but those words cut me to my core last year and I was really heartbroken over it for quite some time. Bottom line is: I can't please everyone and I have to be okay with some people being mad about it or at me over it.

What we have with my Santa sessions is very special. Santa is the real deal and I care so much about producing an amazing product for you that I pour every ounce of my energy into every picture taken. I believe that combination is what's made our sessions so sought after over the years.
